Peru edition of Monopoly goes on sale today

The board game includes 22 representative landmarks from Peru, many of
them archaeological sites such as the Nasca Lines, Chan Chan, Chavin
de Huantar and Sacsayhuamán. The Peru edition's most expensive square,
occupied by Boardwalk in the classic version, is Machu Picchu.

The locations were selected during an online voting process during
March. Out of 60 options, the 22 places that received the most votes
made it on the board. Machu Picchu won with 25,919 votes, while the
Nasca Lines came in second with 16,461 votes.

Cards from the game's Community Chest include "You rent Machu Picchu
for a private party. Pay one million." (The currency is not in soles,
but rather a generic denomination, as in all of Monopoly's foreign
editions.) Another reads, in Spanish, "Your potato harvest is exported
to Europe. Receive two million." Meanwhile, a Chance card reads
"Trapped in the center during rush hour. Go back three spaces."

Hasbro says that the game will be sold all throughout Peru.
